As leaders in mussel propagation, Genoa and Neosho National Fish Hatcheries, in Wisconsin and Missouri, are now raising a total of 17 mussel species for reintroductions at 33 locations in 10 states. Shown here is Nathan Eckert, assistant manager at Neosho, helping a hatchery-raised winged mapleleaf � one of North America’s most endangered freshwater mussels � find a new home in the wild.
