Forest, River/stream, WetlandThrough a partnership between the College of William and Mary, USFWS, and the Department of Interior's Office of Restoration and Damage Assessment, an was created to highlight the progress of restoration projects being implemented under the Cornell-Dubilier Electronics, Inc. Superfund Site (CDE Site) Natural Resources Damage Assessment and Restoration (NRDAR) case. The NRDAR process restores or replaces natural resources harmed by oil spills or the release of hazardous substances into the environment to compensate the public for the loss of those resources. To manage this process, federal and state government partners act as natural resource trustees that work on behalf of the public. For the CDE Site, these trustees are the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. In 2021, after a public scoping and review process, the Trustees released a for the CDE Site that outlines how resources affected by the Site will be restored by implementing restoration projects throughout the Raritan River watershed. Visit the StoryMap to learn more about the progress that has been made on many of these restoration projects.
