The polar bear鈥檚 Latin name (Ursus maritimus) means 鈥渟ea bear.鈥� They spend much of their lives hunting seals on the sea ice. With their thick blubber, layered fur, and paddle-like paws, they are perfectly adapted to the icy waters of the Arctic.
