FROM THE ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION: CONTACT: Dawn Johnson 618-301-6050 - The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced that Illinois 13 will be reduced to one lane in each direction, with head-to-head traffic separated by concrete barriers. The changes are necessary to accommodate construction of new westbound lanes and replacement bridges over the Crab Orchard Lake causeway. Additionally, Cambria Road and Shawnee Trail will be closed at their intersections with Illinois 13 for the duration of this phase. Beginning Sept. 2, boat access to the Cambria Neck north of Illinois 13 from Crab Orchard Lake will be closed, along with pedestrian access to the causeway, including areas commonly used for fishing. These closures are required for safety and construction staging. This phase of the project is expected to continue through September 2026.
